Michelle Obama has been making headlines in recent weeks for her comments about her future plans. At a recent event, Michelle Obama said that she would “never” run for president because it was too time consuming and stressful.
But this answer hasn’t stopped people from speculating about whether or not she’ll change her mind. In fact, there may even be some momentum building in support of the former first lady.
Many want to see her replace Joe Biden as the Democratic candidate on the 2024 ticket.
A Change Research poll found that 68% of Democrats and left-leaning voters want to see Michelle Obama on the ticket in 2024. The survey also showed that 61% of Republicans agree with this sentiment—so why all the excitement?

The majority of left-leaning Americans want to see Michelle Obama run for president in 2024. In a recent poll, 68% of respondents said they would vote for her if she were on the ticket.
That’s more than twice as much support as Hillary Clinton garnered in 2016.
While it’s impossible to say whether these numbers are actually indicative of how much Democrats love Obama or just what they think of Joe Biden (or both).
A poll conducted by Change Research and Data for Progress found that 68% of Democrats and left-leaning voters said they wanted Michelle Obama to run for president in 2024.
The polls showed that 61% of Republicans thought she should run, with 51% believing she could win the election if she were to enter the race.
The results of this poll are notable considering how polarizing both Barack Obama and Donald Trump have been throughout their presidencies.
It’s not hard to see why: Michelle Obama is a popular figure, regardless of party affiliation.
A 2018 poll by Fox News showed her approval rating at 70%. She has also been widely praised for her work as first lady and earned praise from Republicans when she spoke out against Trump’s immigration policy.
If Michelle Obama were to run in 2024, it would be difficult to deny her candidacy based on her popularity alone.
It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the first time there has been talk of Michelle Obama running for president; she was rumored to be considering a bid after Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election (and then again after Donald Trump won).
We’ll see if she actually gets talked into running but she could be the last hope for Dems to keep the presidency after 2024.
