The Biden-Harris administration seems to be living in an alternate universe when it comes to crime statistics, choosing to paint a rosy picture while reality is much grimmer. This time, they’ve gotten caught red-handed trying to spin data into a tale of reduced violent crime, while the truth is shouting from the rooftops: crime is increasing.
Data from the Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCCA) has just poured cold water on the administration’s claims. This association has been compiling crime statistics from 69 of the country’s most significant cities since 2014. In typical Biden fashion, the administration jumped at the chance to twist statistics to claim they’ve made America safer since taking office. Apparently, they think the American people lack the ability to notice when they’re getting hoodwinked.
The grandiose statements from this administration would make any seasoned journalist roll their eyes. They insist that Americans are safer now than at the start of their term, and they’re keen on keeping the public funding additional police officers and community intervention programs. Yet, it’s hard to take their claims seriously when one looks at the data being scrutinized. The sharp-eyed among us can see that there’s something off about this narrative.
The initial claims about dropping crime rates only tell part of the story. Yes, MCCA reported a decrease in violent crime incidents from early 2024 compared to early 2023. But hold the applause—this only accounts for figures from the largest police departments. Meanwhile, when delving into broader data for 2024, statistics show a staggering 9.6% uptick in total violent crime, and aggravated assault is reportedly on the rise by a jaw-dropping 25%. Unless they believe algebra can change the laws of physics, one must wonder how they can claim to be the champions of safety.

Perhaps the most damning aspect of the administration’s cherry-picked information is its dubious timeframe. The narrow lens through which they examine these statistics does not hold up under scrutiny. A longer-term perspective reveals a far murkier picture of safety across America, completely undermining their attempts to claim success. It appears the Biden administration is not just manipulating numbers to fit their narrative; they’re also banking on Americans being entirely oblivious to the actual facts.
Once again, it’s clear that the reigning duo of Washington is disconnected from the realities most Americans face every day. The public is left to wonder if this consistent misrepresentation is intentional or simply a product of an administration playing fast and loose with the truth.
