President Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection hopes hit a speed bump this week when a poll dropped a bombshell on his campaign. A shocking one-fifth of black voters said they would ditch the president in favor of another candidate next year. That’s right, folks – one in five! The poll revealed that a staggering 17% of respondents would cast their vote for none other than the beloved former President Donald Trump, while 20% declared they’d throw their support behind a third-party contender. This unexpected shift in support among black voters spells trouble for Biden, who traditionally relies on strong backing from the Democratic voting block. The survey, conducted by GenForward, polled 3,448 eligible voters from around the nation and found Biden’s approval rating taking a hit among African American voters. The margin of error in the poll was plus or minus 3%, so these numbers are no joke, folks.
But wait, there’s more! According to Cathy Cohen, the founder and director of the GenForward project, the real cause for concern is the number of black and Latino respondents who expressed disinterest in voting at all. A shocking one-fifth of both Latino and black participants said they wouldn’t even bother to vote if the election were held today. What a tough crowd!
And as if that wasn’t enough, the survey also uncovered a notable surge in approval for Trump within the black community. Though Trump only garnered around 8% of the black vote in 2020, this latest data shows a significant increase in his support among African American voters. Could it be his captivating hypermasculinity? Or perhaps his undeniable charisma? Who knows, but one thing’s for sure – Biden is feeling the heat!
Despite these troubling findings, Democratic pollster Cornell Belcher insists that it’s still too early to predict the outcome of the 2024 election based on these numbers. After all, who could forget the time the polls mistakenly predicted former President Barack Obama’s defeat in 2011? Anything could happen, folks!
