Biden Re-election Wobbles as Dems Weigh Ouster Amid Tight Deadlines

Joe Biden’s re-election bid is looking shakier than a Jenga tower in an earthquake as pressure mounts for him to drop out of the 2024 presidential race. Key swing states like Georgia are already bracing for a chaotic battle if Democrats decide to bench the Commander-in-Chief. According to state law, any replacement must be made at least 60 days before the election, which sets a hard deadline of September 6. With the Democratic National Convention scheduled for late August, this doesn’t leave much room for the Dems to get their act together.

That convention could end up being less about unity and more like a soap opera as the party contemplates ousting Biden. While Georgia’s clock ticks down, other swing states like Wisconsin and Nevada are essentially no-go zones for a Biden replacement, barring extreme circumstances or Herculean legal efforts. In Wisconsin, it would take nothing short of Biden kicking the bucket to allow a switch, while Nevada would be tangled up in a legal quagmire, according to reports from The Heritage Foundation.

With each passing day, calls for Biden to hang up his boots grow louder—coming from both sides of the aisle. Republicans, always eager for a good soundbite, quickly remind everyone of Biden’s recent gaffes. Despite Biden’s team continuing to insist he’s the man for the job, some high-profile Democrats have started to see the light. Longtime Biden ally George Clooney penned an opinion piece calling for Biden to step aside, claiming the incumbent is not the same man he once supported.

The chorus of discontent even has some left-wing stars, including Rob Reiner, backing Clooney’s sentiment. They’ve put Biden’s diminishing cognitive abilities in the spotlight, emphasizing that age, not campaign blunders, is the real issue. Clooney warned that sticking with Biden could lead to a Democratic wipeout in November, losing the presidency and the House and Senate.

Even Democratic senators like Michael Bennet are waving red flags about the party’s grim future. With Trump polling ahead, Bennet warned that the GOP could sweep the election. He pointed out that past Democratic candidates like Hillary Clinton and even Biden himself were polling better at this point in their campaigns.

Sticking to their loyalty like barnacles on a sinking ship, figures like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez staunchly support Biden despite increasing pressure. Schumer echoed his unwavering loyalty, dismissing the notion of a convention challenge.

So, despite calls for Biden to step down, his camp shows no intention of abandoning ship. Whether he stays or goes, expect a legal slugfest nationwide to ensure the next Democratic nominee even makes it to the ballot. The Democratic Party may soon discover that the only thing more perilous than running Biden is trying to replace him.
