The Washington Examiner recently reported that House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, didn’t hold back in his criticism of President Joe Biden ahead of Biden’s State of the Union address. Johnson took aim at the White House’s handling of key issues, calling attention to Biden’s comments on the border, the economy, and other policy matters. Johnson’s office released a video that compiled clips of Biden’s remarks alongside what they deemed to be his most embarrassing moments, such as his stumble on the stairs of Air Force One.

In a statement from Johnson’s office, they made it clear that they viewed Biden’s address as a mere attempt to hit the reset button, emphasizing that it was Biden’s failed agenda and leadership that necessitated this reset. Johnson himself expressed his disappointment in Biden’s presidency, highlighting what he saw as rapid deterioration across various facets of American life, including the economy, national security, and foreign policy.
The video, titled “Three Years of Decline,” also took a harsh look at the Biden administration’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 and America’s perceived weakened global standing, especially in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, conflicts in the Middle East, and escalated aggression from China and North Korea.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Washington Examiner also noted that this upcoming speech will mark Biden’s fourth address to Congress and serve as the last one in his first term. It’s no secret that Biden is expected to face off against the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, in the next election, setting the stage for a showdown reminiscent of the 2020 presidential race.
