Melissa Beatty, a former assistant volleyball coach at the university, faced a whirlwind after filing a Title IX complaint over the handling of a transgender player on the women’s team. As her contract quietly expired and was not renewed, questions about fairness, gender, and the future of women’s sports loom larger than ever.
Melissa Beatty moved her family from Connecticut to take up a promising position at San Jose State. Little did she know that she’d find herself in the middle of a battle not just for volleyball matches but for protecting the principles she believed governed women’s sports.
