The do-nothing Congress strikes again! They’ve missed another self-imposed deadline to get their act together and release legislative text for the final spending package to avoid a partial government shutdown. Seriously, does anyone in Washington know how to get things done on time?
The major hang-up this time? How to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Apparently, our elected officials can’t figure out how to allocate the money to keep our borders secure and our country safe. It’s like they’re more interested in playing political games than actually doing their jobs.

Now, they were supposed to release the text of the deal on Sunday, but surprise, surprise, that didn’t happen. And Monday was a bust too! With time running out before the looming midnight Friday deadline, it’s clear that these folks need to get their act together and fast.
The House and Senate need to pass the final six appropriations bills to fund the government and avoid a shutdown. But of course, they can’t seem to agree on how to do it. The Pentagon, State Department, Labor Department, Health and Human Services Department, DHS, and foreign operations are all hanging in the balance while our elected officials can’t seem to come to a consensus.
And what’s the big sticking point holding up the whole process? Disagreements over the DHS funding! House Republicans and Senate Democrats can’t seem to agree on immigration and defense policy. It’s like they’re playing a never-ending game of tug-of-war, and the American people are the ones getting dragged through the mud.
The House wants the Biden administration to get back to work on the border wall and reinstate the “Remain in Mexico” policy. They’ve also got some demands about Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s salary and the funding for the Biden administration’s CBP One application. But the Democrats are pushing back, and talks are still ongoing.
And here’s the real kicker: the government is set to enter a partial shutdown if these clowns in Congress can’t get their act together. It’s like they’re holding the country hostage while they bicker and argue over funding. And if they can’t come to a resolution on DHS funding, they might just have to resort to another stopgap spending measure, which nobody wants.
So, there you have it, folks. Once again, our elected officials are failing to do their jobs and risking a government shutdown in the process. It’s like watching a bunch of toddlers fight over a toy, except this isn’t child’s play – it’s our government at work. And frankly, it’s not working very well at all.
