GOP Elite Fête McCarthy: Will He Run Again or Bid Adieu?

The National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman, Richard Hudson, is throwing a fabulous shindig for the one and only former Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The purpose? To show their gratitude for McCarthy’s unwavering support and hard work in leading the Republican conference. According to an exclusive invite obtained by the Washington Examiner, the soiree is set to take place on December 13th from 6-9 p.m. The guest list is stacked with heavy-hitters, including Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and a gaggle of other top-tier Republicans.

The invite reads, “Please join us to toast a man who has done so much for each one of us. We know this is a busy time of year, but I hope you will join us for this special night.” It’s sure to be a night filled with back-slapping and good old-fashioned Republican camaraderie.

While the festive spirit is in full swing, whispers and rumors about McCarthy’s future in Congress continue to swirl throughout the hallowed halls of the Capitol. The man himself has been evasive, hinting at an impending decision on whether or not he’ll throw his hat in the ring for reelection, coyly stating, “I’ve got to make a decision. I have my papers and I’m looking at it.”

If McCarthy does decide to run, the clock is ticking, with the deadline for him to file in California set for this Friday, December 8th. However, even if he does submit his paperwork, there’s no guarantee he’ll actually run, or he could up and resign his seat at any moment, leaving a void that would surely shake up the political landscape.
