Harris Versus Trump Looms in 2024: A Battle of Stark Contrasts

The political gauntlet for the 2024 presidential election is shaping up for Vice President Kamala Harris, who is on track to face off against former President Donald Trump. Harris, who served as a senator from California before sliding into the vice presidency, has made a name for herself with an array of leftist legislation that would make any conservative cringe.

During her brief stint in the Senate, Harris passionately backed an assortment of left-wing initiatives designed to redefine liberty, free markets, and, more humorously, common sense. Among her crowning achievements was the Ensuring Diverse Leadership Act of 2019, an effort that would have required Federal Reserve banks to include certain “diverse” individuals in their hiring processes. This legislation would have likely introduced more ethnicity and gender discussions into what should be a straightforward economic body, potentially paving the way for the insanity of comparing banking with a college diversity seminar.

Not content with just promoting an agenda to alter leadership at financial institutions, Harris also cheerfully sponsored the American Dream Employment Act of 2019. This gem would have allowed certain undocumented immigrants who arrived as children—thanks to the illustrious DACA program introduced during the Obama era—to potentially net a paycheck derived from taxpayer-funded congressional positions. Who needs borders when there are government jobs to hand out, right?

As if her legislative whims needed more absurdity, Harris had a hand in crafting the Rent Relief Act of 2019, aimed at subsidizing rent for America’s upper-middle class while simultaneously freezing evictions and foreclosures during the pandemic. One might think that making millions must be quite a challenge if local and federal governments are bending over backwards to ensure that households earning under $100,000 annually can stay in their homes no matter the financial situation. It’s a marvel that this legislation didn’t also include free gourmet dinners and spa days for tenants being financially “supported.”

Not to be outdone by her peers, Harris co-sponsored the Green New Deal alongside her pal Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. They envisioned a sweeping overhaul of the U.S. economy, a plan that is estimated to cost taxpayers upwards of $10 trillion. Anyone with even a passing acquaintance with math might laugh at the sheer audacity of transforming the U.S. economy overnight while prancing about in green fearmongering regalia—but, of course, that’s just a detail for the left.

Harris’s epic quest for eco-activism was further manifested in her Climate Equity Act of 2020. This ambitious proposal aimed to create a federal office to monitor the supposed injustices of environmental policies affecting low-income communities. If this isn’t the ultimate bureaucratic boondoggle, it’s hard to say what is. Harris seems to thrive on crisis management, where legislation can hold firm against the mythical climate dragon, a distraction from issues like crime, inflation, and border security.

All of this brings Harris back into the spotlight after taking a notable detour through the 2020 election cycle, where she spouted policies that included a ban on fracking and mandatory gun buybacks. Since her days of loudly touting these positions, she’s backtracked significantly, as nimble politicians often do. Yet, as she prepares for the coming storm of her 2024 candidacy, one thing is sure: the Vice President is no stranger to bending the rules and narratives to hopscotch her way into a more favorable political landscape. She may think she’s moving forward, but conservatives remember the marathon of pandemonium she left behind.
