In a shocking turn of events, it has been revealed that members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are aiding the Houthi rebel terror group in their assault on civilian shipping in the Red Sea. This has caused a major traffic jam for freighters trying to navigate through the critical waterway that connects the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. Not only is this delaying global shipping, but it’s putting ships and their crews in harm’s way.

Just this week, a U.S.-owned ship was attacked by a missile in the Gulf of Aden, causing damage and forcing it to turn back. And if that wasn’t enough, a second missile was fired at the ship, but luckily it malfunctioned. This isn’t an isolated incident either, as a U.S. Navy ship was also targeted by a missile attack just a day earlier. It’s clear that these attacks pose a real threat to innocent lives and international commerce.
In response to these acts of aggression, the U.S. military has taken action, using fighter jets and submarines to strike targets within Yemen. The Houthi rebels, who have long been known to have ties to Iran, are reportedly being directly trained and supported by Iranian military officials. This includes the transfer of advanced weaponry such as attack drones, cruise missiles, and medium-range ballistic missiles. The report even goes as far as to name Iranian Gen. Abdul Reza Shahlai as the supervisor of these attacks.
In the past, the Trump administration rightly labeled the Houthis as a terror group due to their deadly Iran-backed activities. However, the Biden administration, in a puzzling move, removed the group from the U.S. government’s list of terror organizations. This decision is not only reckless but also puts the safety and security of Americans and our allies at risk.
It’s clear that Iran and the Houthi rebels pose a significant threat to stability in the region, and it’s time for the Biden administration to take decisive action against these dangerous actors. With Iran’s involvement in these attacks becoming clearer by the day, the United States must stand firm against this aggression and protect our interests and allies in the region. The safety of our ships and sailors, as well as the stability of the global economy, depend on it.
