Kamala Harris Campaign Leaves Donors Frustrated and Overcharged

The financial extravaganza surrounding Kamala Harris’s campaign seems to have reached new heights of absurdity. Her donors have been left scratching their heads—and checking their bank accounts—after finding they’re still being billed for a campaign that has officially crashed and burned. As Democrats grapple with the aftermath, they might find themselves asking what every parent asked their kid about their allowance: “Where did all that money go?”

In a truly jaw-dropping mismanagement of funds, Harris’s team managed to burn through a staggering $2.5 billion in an unsuccessful bid for the presidency, only to wrap things up while in debt. This scenario could be straight out of a cautionary tale for lottery winners who spent it all on luxury items only to be left on the brink of bankruptcy. The situation raises a few eyebrows—who needs to know about the joys of fiscal responsibility when you can just throw cash around like confetti?

With Donald Trump poised to reclaim the White House, it seems Harris is busy planning for her next career move. Whether it’s a cushy position on a corporate board, a teaching gig at some ivory tower university, or the ultimate fate reserved for those with little public interest—guest spots on CNN or MSNBC—the possibilities that await her are as cringeworthy as they are predictable. At least if she does end up on one of those floundering networks, it’ll only be temporary. After all, how long can one really be a star in a league that seems to have been put out to pasture?

As if the drama couldn’t intensify, Harris’s campaign is still siphoning funds from her supporters well after the defeat. The process involves automatic monthly charges that have some donors feeling like they’ve been left in the lurch. A Democrat strategist noted the sneaky nature of these charges, pointing out that while December could be excused as a last-ditch effort, January billing crosses a line. If there was ever an example of how to alienate loyal supporters, this would be it.

Most contributors might have expected a gracious goodbye, but instead, they received a thank-you message indicating that the monthly debits will continue until they physically reach out to stop them. This leaves small donors eyeing their credit cards with a mix of bewilderment and irritation. While other campaigns, such as Kennedy’s, at least attempted to ask for help instead of automatically dragging funds from unsuspecting bank accounts, Harris seems to be diving headlong into the treacherous waters of “super shady” fundraising tactics. It’s a shocker—if, of course, one forgot to take off their “shocked face.”

All of this leads to a larger question: What is Harris’s endgame here? As she and Biden begin to fade into political obscurity, why continue to siphon funds from a losing campaign? According to DNC officials, the remaining funds are still being funneled into the party’s efforts to “rebuild.” This might come as a relief to those who want to pretend that this train wreck can somehow be salvaged. However, let’s be frank; these donors are unlikely to push the panic button when they can simply cut their losses and exit stage left.
