Vice President Kamala Harris recently found herself in hot water after it was revealed she had a not-so-secret meeting with the radical mayor of Dearborn, Michigan, Abdullah Hammoud. This meeting, which seems reminiscent of a plot twist in a low-budget spy thriller, was aimed at courting Muslim and Arab-American voters, signaling yet another chapter in the Democratic Party’s apparent love affair with anti-Israel sentiment. The Associated Press buried this revelation deep within a Saturday report on so-called “uncommitted” voters, as if people wouldn’t notice the elephant in the room.
The meeting took place during Harris’s campaign swing through Michigan, a state known for its significant Arab-American population. Details about what was discussed are as murky as a college student’s explanation for their missing homework, but insiders suggest the focus was on Harris’s potential policies regarding the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. It’s almost as if she believes a cozy chat with Hammoud will magically resolve decades of geopolitical tension. Hammoud chose to remain mum about the specifics, possibly to keep the drama alive or to avoid losing votes from more moderate circles.

In a show of her delicate handling of foreign affairs, Harris has been vague yet apparently open to the idea of an arms embargo regarding Israel, which is sure to excite the hardcore anti-Israel activists she seems so keen to impress. After all, why not throw a good ally under the bus for a few votes? Her handlers quickly retracted any commitments she might have inadvertently made – a classic case of “oops, did I say that?”
Hammoud is not your run-of-the-mill mayor; he openly justified Hamas’s violence against Israelis while claiming to oppose violence against civilians. This type of charming double-talk is a hallmark of leaders who prefer to play on the world stage while completely ignoring the implications of their words. He has previously led rallies where he openly dubbed Dearborn a “city of resistance,” a phrase too reminiscent of Iranian-backed groups, inviting speculation about where he really stands. He also griped about the influence of money in politics, which has an uncanny resemblance to classic antisemitic tropes—perfectly on-brand for his public persona.
As if the meeting itself wasn’t alarming enough, there’s more to chew on. Dearborn has earned a notorious reputation, occasionally hailed as “America’s Jihad Capital” in some op-eds. Just last October, following a horrific Hamas attack on Israel, the local Muslim community organized a pro-Hamas rally where peace was notably absent from the agenda, unless one counts the crowd’s raucous booing of anyone who dared to advocate for it.
Harris’s reluctance to embrace moderate voices within the Democratic Party, such as Pennsylvania’s Jewish Governor Josh Shapiro, only adds fuel to the fire. It seems the vice president is willing to sidestep Jews in favor of courting more radical viewpoints. In the eyes of many, this alliance with figures like Hammoud signifies a troubling trend within the party, one that increasingly appears to favor anti-Israel rhetoric over steadfast American allyship. The Vice President appears to think that cozying up to the radical left—whether that be through secret meetings or risky promises—will secure her the votes she desperately needs.
