Mark Cuban, the billionaire known for his flashy lifestyle and habit of inserting himself into political debates, is proving once again that he might be a little too smart for his own good. After a lukewarm support campaign for Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election, Cuban’s transition from a vocal defender of the Vice President to a congratulatory tweet toward President-elect Donald Trump raises more questions than it answers. One has to wonder if Cuban would have received bonus points for “backing the leader,” or if he’s simply realized that the future of politics isn’t quite so friendly for him on Team Kamala.
Not too long ago, Cuban was fond of hurling insults at Trump and suggesting a lack of strong women in his circle. This was a rather curious move for someone who, at the time, was eager to climb aboard the Harris train despite its apparent leaks and questionable destinations. While Trump labeled Cuban as a “major loser”—which, considering the GOP’s recent electoral success, is becoming a more valid assessment with each passing day—it seems Cuban has pulled the ultimate disappearing act on social media.

As if conjuring an elaborate sleight of hand, Cuban has decided to erase every trace of his pro-Kamala stance from his Twitter timeline. The audacity! Meanwhile, Kamala herself dropped a congratulatory message days later, proving once again the priority list of her campaign. It appears Cuban forgot the number one rule of political loyalty: if you’re not riding the winning wave, just erase the evidence and pretend it never happened.
Speculation has started to brew about whether Cuban is simply trying to avoid being labeled “very insecure”—a phrase made famous (or infamous, depending on your political leanings) by Trump himself. It doesn’t take a political analyst to connect the dots and see this trajectory. Cuban’s decision to delete posts appears a tad desperate, leading many to conclude that he maybe cares a bit too much about perception when the tide is turning.
Perhaps Cuban figured the “delete” button was the best way to salvage his reputation after failing to stand by his words. The reality is, whether it’s deleting tweets or making half-hearted apologies, Cuban’s behavior looks less like a calculated strategic retreat and more like an admission of cowardice. So the question remains: will Trump be diverting those “pointless calls” to his good pal Cuban in the next four years? If so, those calls might actually be the highlight of Cuban’s political career.
In the end, Cuban’s actions speak volumes in a landscape where political loyalty is king. If you’re going to ride the Democratic wave, at least be prepared to show up when they inevitably capsize. This sudden case of digital amnesia suggests Cuban may want to reconsider his strategy—and maybe even work on his public relations skills. Political platforms flourished on the virtues of authenticity, but perhaps for Cuban, it’s too late to turn back now.
