Now, in what can only be described as a belated homing in on reality, they’ve acknowledged the surge in illegal crossings that has become the hallmark of Biden’s tenure.
The ruckus started on “Morning Joe,” where former Obama official Steve Rattner nonchalantly remarked that Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, was not mistaken about the crisis unfolding at the border. The flood of illegal crossings clearly reflected a choice to roll out the welcome mat for migrants in a fashion that could make any stampede feel like a quiet Sunday stroll. Rattner, armed with charts more revealing than a poorly designed political ad, illustrated how border apprehensions have soared since Biden took office, busting through records like a kid smashing a piñata at a birthday party.

There were a lot of factors at play, including Biden’s ill-timed moratoriums on deportations, which were treated as an invitation rather than a deterrent.

The tragedy, a gruesome testament to the risks of unchecked entry, resulted in the loss of at least 15 lives—a stark reminder that dangerous individuals can and do cross borders too. Trump wasn’t shy about making the connections loud and clear, asserting that Biden’s Border Patrol novel was more fiction than policy, and declaring the current president as the “WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICA.”
As the 2024 election looms closer, Biden’s attempts to remedy the situation appear to come too little, too late for a frustrated populace. The understanding that border security is not merely a talking point, but a pressing matter of national security can no longer be avoided, even by those on the left. At this rate, it seems like both MSNBC and the Biden administration might want to adjust their political compasses—before they get completely lost in the wilderness of their own making.
