The drama between Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the darling of the progressive left, has been spilling over from the public eye into behind-the-scenes chaos. It’s like a reality TV show, but with more power suits and less self-awareness.
Reportedly, Pelosi and AOC initially had a cordial relationship, but things quickly turned sour. According to Ryan Grim’s book, “The Squad: AOC and the Hope of a Political Revolution,” Pelosi dominated the conversation during their first in-person meeting, leaving AOC’s chief of staff scratching his head and wondering if Pelosi was on a monologue marathon.

One thing they couldn’t see eye-to-eye on was AOC’s slogan, “Abolish ICE.” Pelosi told AOC that the catchy phrase was supposedly a gift from the Russians and urged her to drop it like a hot potato.
As the tension simmered, AOC snubbed Pelosi during her general election campaign and even staged a sit-in regarding climate change right in front of Pelosi’s Capitol Hill office after being elected. If that wasn’t enough drama, AOC and her “Squad” buddies voted against a bill backed by Pelosi, which included crucial funding for border enforcement.
Pelosi fired back, dismissing AOC and her crew as having “their public whatever and their Twitter world,” adding that they were just four people with four votes. Ouch, shots fired!
But the feud didn’t end there. AOC confronted Pelosi over the infrastructure bill, suggesting it needed more social spending, and even criticized Pelosi’s Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee vendors, saying they “sucked.” Talk about throwing shade!
Grim’s book also mentions texts from AOC revealing her frustration with Pelosi’s patronizing comments, like comparing protest signs in her basement to AOC’s age. AOC ultimately found solace with a new House Democrat leader, claiming her life improved drastically since Pelosi was no longer calling the shots.
