Poll Shows Security Fears Trump Job Concerns Amid Border Crisis

American security is on everyone’s mind, and a new poll reveals that it’s leading concerns about jobs by a whopping six to one. A staggering 40% of respondents said their top worry is security issues, overshadowing fears about crime in cities and the jaw-dropping $150 billion spent annually on illegal immigrants. It seems citizens are more interested in safety than in competing for jobs with newcomers.

While former President Trump has been pointing fingers at illegal immigrants snatching up jobs, the real concern keeping Americans up at night is the potential of terrorists slipping across the borders—an issue that’s more relevant than ever as suspects are being apprehended both at the Mexican and Canadian borders. As the Biden-Harris administration continues to let the border crisis spiral out of control, the public is rightfully anxious over who might be slipping in alongside those seeking a new life.

Brian Cavanaugh, a former aide on Trump’s National Security Council, highlighted that this predicament transcends mere political disagreements; it’s a national security debacle. The numbers don’t lie: a large percentage of Americans, including many moderates, are directing their frustrations at the current administration, and as the elections loom closer, failure to address border security issues could prove catastrophic for the ruling party.

One major contributor to this escalating crisis comes from Panama, where authorities have been able to detain or turn away numerous individuals linked to terrorism. Director General Jorge Gobea of Panama’s National Border Service has made it clear that suspected members of terrorist organizations are aiming for the U.S. border, making his job a Herculean task as he admits they can only inspect a fraction of those moving through the perilous Darien Gap.

Strikingly, a recent poll by CRC Research for the 85 Fund shows that a significant 42% of likely voters hold the Biden administration accountable for the current border turmoil, while only 15% blame Congress. With women showing a particularly strong disapproval of Vice President Kamala Harris’ handling of the situation—51% are dissatisfied—her aspirations for a presidential run may be in serious jeopardy. If voters see Harris as merely a border czar who’s dropped the ball, her chances at the nation’s highest office could disappear faster than an illegal border crossing.

Jessica Anderson, the president of Sentinel Action Fund, stressed the stark reality that voters have closely observed Harris’s lackluster performance at the southern border over the past four years. With illegal crossings soaring, drug issues reaching alarming levels, and crime rates spiking, it’s becoming glaringly obvious that Harris’s empty rhetoric isn’t winning any favors at the ballot box. The American people understand that securing the southern border is crucial for national security. Yet, as Harris attempts to spin her way out of this mess, her ties to the policies that have opened the floodgates for potential terrorists are becoming harder to ignore. The growing scrutiny suggests that her recklessness could be a liability come election time.
