In the first days of a new administration, it seems that the lines of battle over immigration are being drawn once more. The contrast with the previous administration is stark, and the mood is both tense and charged with hope for what’s to come. Many Americans have grown accustomed to the idea of illegal immigration, but some believe common-sense policies are essential to restoring order. Polls show an impressive two-thirds of Americans now favor deportation for all illegal immigrants, a significant climb from just a decade ago when only about one-third shared that view.
