Chuck Schumer has managed to find a way to double down on the biggest tall tale in Washington: that President Biden is as mentally sharp as the day he took office. During a recent appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the Senate Majority Leader might as well have been wearing clown shoes as he danced around questions regarding Biden’s cognitive decline, while simultaneously counting on viewers to buy into this smoke and mirrors game.
When pressed by host Kristen Welker about his previous claims brushing aside concerns over Biden’s mental state as “right-wing propaganda,” Schumer put on his best performance. He insisted that he chats with Biden several times a week, proclaiming that the president’s mental acuity was “great” and “fine.” This hilarious claim would be amusing if it weren’t symptomatic of the desperate state of Democratic rhetoric. If chat time were an Olympic sport, Schumer would surely take home the gold in verbal gymnastics, considering that countless observers—both within and outside the Democratic Party—have noted Biden’s evident cognitive decline.
In typical fashion, Schumer clung to the party line even when the truth wriggled free. To add insult to injury, he attempted to pepper in praise for Biden’s so-called achievements, touting legislative triumphs that he felt were akin to FDR and LBJ. It was a classic case of changing the narrative faster than one can say “Cognitive Test.” Mere moments after seemingly admitting Biden’s decline, Schumer transitioned to glorifying the president’s leadership, attempting to convince the audience that everyone was on the same page, when anyone paying attention knows they are not.
Schumer tried to frame Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 race as a selfless act. However, insiders revealed that behind the scenes, it was anything but an organic decision. In a maneuver with the smoothness of a revolving door, reports surfaced that major Democratic heavyweights like Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries were all involved in convincing Biden that it was time to bow out. The fear of Biden remaining in the race was palpable—so much so that even Kamala Harris reportedly considered invoking the 25th Amendment to expedite his exit. Apparently, “selflessness” is a euphemism for “leaving before he became a national embarrassment.”

Notably, when asked if Biden could have served another four years had he stayed in, Schumer shied away from a direct answer. Instead, he continued prattling on about Biden’s “stellar” legacy as if repeating the buzzwords could convince anyone of their merit. The irony is thick enough to cut with a knife; the Democrats, in their attempt to laud an “outstanding president,” overlook the fact that they were ready and willing to sell out the country just to maintain their grip on power.
In summary, Schumer’s feeble attempts to defend Biden highlight a massive ongoing charade within the Democratic Party. While the ringleaders proclaim Biden’s greatness, it is clear they would rather let a half-hearted leader control the wheel just as long as it keeps their agenda afloat. It is a disastrous game of politics where the stakes are American well-being, but for Schumer and his cohorts, the commitment to “truth” seems as shaky as Biden’s own mental state.
