Swalwell Blames Trump for Plane Crashes Even as Facts Prove Otherwise

Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell is at it again, demonstrating that when it comes to shifting blame, he could teach a masterclass. Recently, the scandal-ridden congressman managed to pin the blame for several tragic plane crashes on none other than President Donald Trump. It’s as if Swalwell believes he can rewrite history himself—talk about a flight of fancy. Despite the crashes occurring under the Trump administration, Swalwell’s comments illustrate the endless loop of Democratic finger-pointing that has become all too familiar.

Swalwell, who has his own history of controversy (let’s not forget his rather embarrassing dalliance with a Chinese spy), apparently believes that air safety falls squarely on the shoulders of the sitting president. His claim is that “Trump is president,” thus making him responsible for any and all aviation mishaps. While Swalwell seems to enjoy making wild assertions, facts don’t seem to be on his side this time around.

In the wake of a small plane crash in Covington, Georgia, which claimed two lives, Swalwell pointed to a supposed record-setting number of plane crashes during Trump’s presidency. He claims no president has had more incidents in their first month in office. However, Swalwell’s assertion would leave a seasoned air traffic controller scratching their head in disbelief. The National Transportation Safety Board’s (NTSB) official records reveal that during Trump’s inauguration month, there were 50 aviational accidents. In comparison, former President Joe Biden’s first month in office? A staggering 94 crashes. It appears Swalwell could use a lesson in basic math and a solid grasp of factual accuracy.

In response to Swalwell’s absurd remarks, White House communications director Steven Cheung couldn’t help but point out that this latest round of blame could be a result of Swalwell’s lingering “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” It’s a valid point—after all, one has to question anyone who would make such demonstrably false claims without a shred of evidence to support it. Cheung hit the nail on the head, labeling Swalwell a disgrace, not just as an elected official but as a human being. Once again, Swalwell has shown that he can be relied upon for sensationalism over sense.

In a more productive turn of events, Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy announced that SpaceX personnel will be collaborating with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in an effort to enhance air safety protocols. Half-hearted attempts to vilify Trump do little more than distract from genuine accountability and growth in aviation safety. While some continue to play the blame game, others are stepping up to ensure air traffic management becomes more modern and secure. It seems the Democrats could use a few lessons from their Republican counterparts in taking responsibility and promoting real solutions, rather than misplaced blame.
