In a shocking revelation, Sonya LaBosco, director of the Air Marshal National Council, has exposed the alarming truth behind the safety risks of traveling in today’s turbulent times. LaBosco shared with Fox News that the strain on air marshal resources due to the border crisis has made it increasingly unsafe for passengers. However, what truly highlights the misplaced priorities of the agency is the significant amount of resources being wasted on tracking Trump supporters and individuals who flew to Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021.

According to LaBosco, the agency’s regular missions to seek out and neutralize potential threats have been compromised. This means that on most flights, passengers can no longer rely on the presence of air marshals to ensure their safety. Instead, these crucial resources have been diverted towards monitoring people who were in the capital region during the first month of the year. It is deeply concerning that individuals who have not been involved in any criminal activities or faced any investigations are now subject to intense scrutiny and constant surveillance.
LaBosco went on to detail the extent of this intrusive monitoring, emphasizing that it extends beyond just January 6 protesters or attendees of the Save America rally. Anyone who flew into the capital region in the days leading up to the protests, for various reasons like job interviews, family visits, or even funerals, have been placed on the domestic terrorist list. This disturbing fact means that innocent individuals, who have not committed any crimes, are now targeted solely based on their geographic location.
Furthermore, it is disheartening to learn that these individuals are being tracked without their knowledge. LaBosco confirmed that some of them are aware of the surveillance due to the enhanced security measures they are subjected to. This is a flagrant violation of privacy and civil liberties, as innocent passengers are being treated as potential threats without any reasonable cause.
This revelation comes on the heels of the House Judiciary Committee’s revelation that Bank of America handed over transaction logs of anyone present in the D.C. or Northern Virginia area on January 5 or 6 to the FBI. This means that tens of thousands of innocent Americans, who had no connection to the protests, have been implicated in this invasive surveillance.
It is abundantly clear that the air marshals’ resources should be focused on identifying and neutralizing real threats, not on targeting innocent individuals based on their political leanings or geographical location. This misuse of resources not only compromises the safety of travelers but also erodes the trust and confidence in our law enforcement agencies. It is high time that our priorities are realigned to address the real issues at hand, rather than indulging in partisan surveillance tactics.
