In a bizarre twist of events that feels straight out of a poorly written TV drama, the Wisconsin Department of Justice has decided to throw another ten felony charges at two of former President Trump’s legal warriors. These charges are part of the ongoing saga surrounding the so-called “fake elector” plot that allegedly aimed to falsely declare Trump the winner of Wisconsin in the controversial 2020 election. Apparently, these legal minds, Jim Troupis and Kenneth Chesebro, along with operations director Mike Roman, were up to no good, attempting to hoodwink the ten Republican electors who had voted for the man himself.
For those keeping score at home, Troupis was the fancy lawyer on the Trump team in the Badger State, while Chesebro had a role advising the campaign during the tumultuous electoral chaos. With the Democrats still desperately clinging to anything that could remotely resemble scandal, it appears they’re hoping to score political points by riddling Trump’s inner circle with legal woes. The underlying suggestion here seems to be that trying to assert a rightful victory in a contested election is tantamount to summoning the devil himself in their eyes.

Charges of forgery make for a nice headline, but the reality is that the left seems to be grasping at straws. Much of the Democratic narrative revolves around the guilt of individuals trying to navigate a legal gray area. After all, the act of submitting electoral paperwork isn’t exactly a crime on par with grand theft auto, yet the left behaves as though this is the worst act of treason since Benedict Arnold. It must be comforting for them to think that they can simply label dissent as illegality; it saves them a lot of time from actually having to defend their narratives against public scrutiny.
Amidst this courtroom circus, one has to wonder whether such charges are motivated more by a desire to quash any remaining competition from Trump’s camp than any genuine concern for law and order. Just a few years removed from a presidency that had everyone on their toes, Trump’s resurgence as the GOP’s presidential nominee must be sending shivers down the spines of those who have yet to reconcile with the voters’ support for him. Any legal maneuver that can paint them as the bad guys seems to be fair game, regardless of the actual merits of the case.
As the legal equivalent of a game of Whac-A-Mole continues, it’s anyone’s guess as to how these charges will play out. Has the left run out of options, or are they just enjoying the sticky mess they’ve created? One thing is clear—these latest charges will do little to dampen the fervor of Trump supporters who see this as yet another chapter in the saga of political persecution. As the battle between justice and injustice rages on, the roots of political warfare remain firmly entrenched, making for a delightful spectacle that would have any good conservative rolling their eyes in disbelief at just how far some will go to maintain their grip on power.
