Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office detectives forced open a motorhome west of Buckeye and pulled 10 puppies and three adult dogs out of what can only be described as filth and neglect on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026. The animals were found near Old U.S. 80 and Salome Highway after the MCSO Animal Crimes Unit served a search warrant in an ongoing investigation into animal neglect.
Video shared by investigators shows puppies and dogs surrounded by garbage, dirty clothes, feces and standing liquid — conditions that would horrify any decent American who believes in responsibility and humane treatment of animals. All of the dogs were rushed to veterinarians to receive urgent medical care and lifesaving attention after deputies seized them from the motorhome.
Authorities say the suspect, identified as Gina Steffes, apparently moved her RV and abandoned the animals once she learned MCSO was investigating, leaving hardworking neighbors and law enforcement to pick up the pieces of her negligence. This seizure comes on the heels of another action in the same investigation where nine more dogs were taken from the property last week, underscoring a pattern of callous behavior that must not be tolerated.
Let’s be clear: this isn’t a private matter or a quirky lifestyle choice — it’s criminal neglect. Conservatives proud of law and order should stand with deputies who prioritize protecting the vulnerable, whether human or animal, and demand the full force of the law be used to hold abusers accountable. Sheriff Jerry Sheridan himself has made prosecuting animal cruelty a priority, and the public should insist those promises mean something in practice.
