Oh boy, folks, buckle up because it looks like our favorite progressive firebrand, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is once again finding herself in a heap of trouble. That’s right, you guessed it, more ethics violations abound! It seems that AOC has been playing fast and loose with the rules yet again.
According to reports, Ocasio-Cortez listed her fiancé, Riley Roberts, as her “spouse” on not one, not two, but at least four disclosure forms filed with the House Ethics Committee. Now, hold on a minute here, because this is where it gets interesting. Her office is claiming that they’re not legally married, but hey, who needs pesky legalities when you can just go ahead and call someone your spouse, right?
Now, I don’t know about you, but when I hear the word “spouse,” I tend to think of someone you’re actually married to. But apparently, the House Ethics Committee has a different definition. According to the committee, a spouse is someone you’re legally married to. Shocking, I know! But hey, rules are rules, and it seems like AOC might have conveniently forgotten that little detail.
And here’s the kicker, folks. If AOC and Roberts were indeed married, she would be required to report his income on her disclosure forms. Yet, surprise, surprise, she conveniently left that part out. It’s almost as if she doesn’t want the public to know about any potential financial entanglements. Hmm, I wonder why that could be?
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “Oh, but it’s just a harmless mistake, right?” Well, think again, my friends. These ethical violations could result in fines of up to $50,000 and even a cozy little stay in the big house for up to five years. But don’t worry, folks. This is probably not one of those extreme cases. However, it does make you wonder about AOC’s judgment and integrity.
But wait, there’s more! This isn’t the first time AOC has found herself in hot water over ethics. She’s currently under investigation for accepting Met Gala tickets and a gown as gifts in 2021. I mean, who needs to follow the rules when you can just accept lavish gifts from fancy events, right? Oh, but don’t worry, she claims she paid back those who provided the gifts. Only problem is, there’s no evidence to back up her claims. Funny how that works, isn’t it?
And let’s not forget that AOC loves to dish out the criticism when it comes to other lawmakers and officials. She’s quick to point the finger and call for impeachment when it suits her, like with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. But maybe, just maybe, she should take a long, hard look in the mirror and worry about her own ethics before throwing stones at others.
All in all, folks, it seems like AOC is really showing her true colors. She talks a big game about accountability and transparency, but when it comes to her own actions, she conveniently forgets the rules. It’s a classic case of “do as I say, not as I do.” But hey, what else is new? It’s just another day in the world of AOC, where the rules only apply to other people.
