In a stunning display of entitlement and ignorance, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has threatened to interfere with the lawful responsibilities of the Department of Homeland Security. The self-styled socialist from New York seems more focused on creating chaos than enforcing the law. When confronted with the possibility of her Democrat colleagues facing arrest for allegedly assaulting federal agents, she promised there would be a “problem” if anyone dared hold them accountable. This kind of reckless rhetoric is nothing new from AOC, who seems more skilled at grandstanding than governing.
Tom Homan, the border czar targeted by AOC’s bluster, didn’t mince words in response. He delivered a verbal smackdown, effectively dismissing her outburst as nonsense. This reaction highlights once again the glaring difference between a do-nothing politician and those in government who actually get things done. While AOC spent the last few years yelling and screaming, Homan and his team have been securing the border and keeping the country safe, making her district in New York safer than she ever has.
The truth that Democrats can’t dodge is that no one is above the law, including them. But when daily conduct involves skirting legal norms and sowing disorder, it seems par for the course. Homan’s call for the Attorney General to prosecute any lawbreaking Democrats is not just legally sound but a slap back to the double standards liberals so desperately cling to. Justice should be blind, but these leftist loudspeakers want to tip the scales in their favor every chance they get.

It’s high time for Democrats to put their money where their mouths are. They talk about due process yet act unprofessionally at every turn. They should be censured or even kicked off their committee assignments if they’ve crossed legal lines. Republicans like Buddy Carter are pushing for resolutions to do just that. Perhaps, it’s the only language AOC and her cohort understand – consequences for their actions.
And let’s not forget the real clincher here: AOC should be reminded every day that she’s a legislator, not a celebrity. If she truly wants to improve the country, maybe she could follow Homan’s suggestion and try passing some legislation for a change, like President Trump did. Until then, her words are hollow, just like her threats.
