Democratic Rep. Barbara Lee of California is making headlines for calling for a jaw-dropping $50 minimum wage, exposing her radical agenda during a recent debate. Despite being asked to defend her outlandish proposal, Lee failed to provide any real answers, leaving viewers scratching their heads and wondering if she’d taken a trip to la-la land.

In response to concerns about the economic impact on small businesses, Lee touted her experience as a small business owner, claiming that she knows firsthand the ins and outs of running a business. However, her attempt to pivot away from the question was a classic case of smoke and mirrors. Supporters of Lee’s proposal, if there are any, were left wanting more.
Lee’s call for such a astronomical minimum wage sparked waves of ridicule and disbelief, even from fellow politicians. Senator Ted Cruz wasn’t afraid to take a swipe at Lee, sarcastically suggesting, “Why not $500 per hour?” The sheer absurdity of the $50 minimum wage proposal prompted him to question why not aim for an even more fantastical $500, $1000, or even a billion dollars an hour.
Not to be outdone, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk chimed in and made a mockery of Lee’s proposal, highlighting the sheer economic ignorance behind it. Furthermore, others were quick to pile on, pointing out the ludicrousness of Lee’s proposal and its potential devastating impact on small businesses.
With inflation rearing its ugly head and causing significant financial strain, Lee’s call for a $50 minimum wage couldn’t have come at a worse time. Her proposal is as laughable as it is dangerous, and it serves as a warning sign of the far-left’s detachment from economic reality. Lee’s bewildering proposal is a prime example of how out-of-touch she is with the struggles of everyday Americans. It’s clear that when it comes to economic know-how, Lee’s liberal ideology is showing its true colors – and they’re not red, white, and blue.
