Democratic strategist James Carville, a seasoned veteran of the Clinton era, is flabbergasted by the temerity of the young upstarts. “There’s this whole, ‘You’re not the boss of me’ attitude now. ‘I might work for you, but I have my own views,'” he exclaimed to Politico. The nerve of these insolent underlings to publicly challenge their superiors is simply beyond the pale.
The rift within the Democratic Party over its stance on Israel has only fueled the fire of dissent. More than 500 political appointees and staffers, lurking in the shadows of anonymity, dared to sign a letter condemning the president’s position on Israel during the recent conflict. And if that weren’t enough, 17 individuals working on Biden’s reelection campaign added fuel to the fire by anonymously urging a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The gall of these unsigned missives has sent shockwaves through the ranks of the old guard, who lambast these tactics as futile and ineffective.
A former senior White House official, speaking anonymously to Politico, dismissed the efficacy of such subversive tactics against the steely resolve of President Biden. “What they don’t know is Joe Biden, and that doesn’t work on him. That is not an effective way to get his attention,” they scoffed. The idea that these underlings believe their subterfuge will sway the president only serves to further alienate his advisors and deepen the chasm of dissent.
But, in a stunning twist, an anonymous Biden aide sprang to the defense of these rogue actions, asserting, “This president … does not shrink from criticism. We aren’t afraid to open up our policy choices to scrutiny.” The irony of their words is almost too much to bear. Despite the chaos sown by these anonymous mutineers, they shamelessly claim to act out of respect for their leader. The sheer hubris of these insubordinate staffers is enough to make even the most seasoned politico’s head spin.
