The campaign manager Layla Elabed, Tlaib’s sister, spearheaded this movement, accusing Biden of funding war and genocide in Gaza. The fact that their desired 10,000 vote threshold was easily surpassed with over 20,000 votes shows that their message failed to resonate with the majority of Democratic voters.
Michigan, with its significant Arab and Muslim American population, became a battleground for this political drama. Despite the efforts of the “Listen To Michigan” campaign and the emergence of groups like Abandon Biden urging voters to steer clear of supporting the President, Biden still emerged victorious in the primary. It’s clear that these fringe movements did not have the impact they hoped for in shaping the outcome.
