Late last night, Secretary of State Antony Blinken made the surprise announcement that humanitarian aid will be sent to the Gaza Strip. However, this decision is not sitting well with many on Capitol Hill and around the country. And it’s not hard to see why.
Let’s not forget that Hamas, the terrorist organization in control of the Gaza Strip, has a history of using humanitarian aid for their own gain. They steal it, they use it as leverage, and they do whatever they can to keep their grip on power. Giving them more aid is like giving a mouse a piece of cheese and expecting it not to devour the whole block.
SEC. BLINKEN: “The U.S. and Israel have agreed to develop a plan that will enable humanitarian aid from donor nations and multilateral organizations to reach civilians in Gaza, and them alone.”

But that’s not all. While our government is focused on sending aid, Iran and Hamas are taking advantage of the situation by smuggling weapons into the Gaza Strip disguised as humanitarian supplies. It’s a classic move by these troublemakers, and yet our leaders seem oblivious to their tricks.
This decision to send aid to the Gaza Strip is not only misguided, it’s dangerous. We are essentially funding terrorism by sending resources to a group that has proven time and time again that they will use it against us. It’s time for our government to wake up and put the safety and security of our own citizens first.
