President Biden’s feeble attempts to secure the release of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich from the clutches of the Russian government have been met with skepticism and disappointment by many. The fact that Gershkovich has been detained for a whole year without any solid evidence to back up the bogus charges of espionage is a travesty. Biden’s hollow promises to keep working on the case daily are about as believable as a unicorn prancing through the Oval Office.

It seems the Biden White House is more interested in shooting hoops with celebrities than standing up for American journalists wrongly detained abroad.
Gershkovich’s family’s unwavering determination to keep his story in the spotlight is commendable. Their commitment to ensuring that his name is not forgotten is a testament to the power of family and the resilience of the human spirit. Despite the administration’s lack of urgency, the Gershkovich family continues to fight for Evan’s release, refusing to let the Russian government sweep his case under the rug.
Journalism is indeed not a crime, as Biden himself has stated. However, his actions speak louder than his empty words. It’s time for the president to put his money where his mouth is and show real leadership in bringing Gershkovich home. The American people deserve a leader who will stand up for our values and protect our citizens abroad, not one who fumbles with empty promises and half-hearted efforts.
