Biden Harris prioritize optics over urgent Hurricane Helene response

The Biden-Harris administration continues to demonstrate its incredible capacity for incompetence, with Hurricane Helene serving as the latest stage for this absurd theater. While the nation reels from the fallout of a catastrophic storm, the duo seems more focused on photo ops and frivolous podcast appearances than addressing the urgent needs of disaster-stricken Americans. Their responses—or lack thereof—are raising eyebrows louder than a rodeo crowd at a bull-riding contest.

Kamala Harris is embroiled in a crisis but apparently can’t resist the siren call of the spotlight. Instead of donning boots and heading to the frontlines, she opted to film an episode for the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, discussing subjects one would assume are better left for a high school health class, not a national disaster response. While families are searching for loved ones and communities are left in ruins, the Vice President decided that discussing reproductive rights was the real priority. It begs the question: is this what leadership looks like?

Meanwhile, President Biden’s reported “efforts” seem as effective as a hand sanitizer dispenser during a wildfire. There have been whispers about him making phone calls to assess the situation, but once again, the evidence is lacking. The American public has been left to wonder if these supposed calls are happening or if they are merely part of a well-crafted fiction. With FEMA already strapped for cash—which they’ve diverted to help illegal immigrants—an urgency to assist American citizens appears to be an afterthought at best.

Compounding the ridiculousness, the administration seems to reflect a troubling narrative where political affiliation determines the magnitude of sympathy and support. The victims of Hurricane Helene, largely located in rural, conservative areas, might as well be invisible to this administration. If they were urban, Democratic-leaning minorities, one could only imagine the urgency and resources that would be mobilized. Alas, these are the voters who simply do not fit the narrative, and their misfortunes continue to be met with indifference.

As bodies are discovered and destruction reigns, one can’t help but feel that the priorities of the Vice President and President are skewed. Instead of rallying to the protection and aid of their constituents, they are apparently more interested in sound bites and social media clout. It’s a circus in which the headline acts are not the victims of the hurricane, but the very leaders who seem intent on ignoring them. The clock is ticking, and the American people are watching, wondering how much longer this farce can continue without consequence.
