Biden Rules Out Use of US Weapons for Strikes on Moscow, Sets Limits

President Biden made it clear that Ukraine does not have permission to use American weapons to bomb Moscow, despite Russian President Vladimir Putin’s accusation that the U.S. is directly involved in the war. Speaking to ABC News, President Biden stated that Ukrainian forces are permitted to use American weapons to target Russian-occupied Kharkiv and specific locations on Russian soil related to Putin’s invasion, but not to strike Moscow or the Kremlin.

The U.S. decision to provide high-precision weapons to Ukraine that can be used for strikes on Russia has led to Putin’s claim of direct U.S. involvement in the conflict. When asked about Putin’s concern, President Biden expressed his long-standing unease with the Russian leader, emphasizing that he has known Putin for over 40 years and considers him to be a dictator struggling to maintain his grip on power.

President Biden’s comments came during an interview in Normandy, France, in which he emphasized that the use of American weapons by Ukrainian forces is limited to targets within proximity of the border and specific locations in Ukraine. He made it clear that strikes deep into Russian territory are not authorized by the U.S.

The situation in Ukraine remains tense as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate. The Biden administration has reiterated its support for Ukraine while also emphasizing the limitations on the use of American weapons by Ukrainian forces.
