This horrifying event unfolded as a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman, Lieutenant Chris Olivarez, witnessed the mother hand over her daughter to the smuggler, who had lofty plans to drive her off to a hotel. Yes, you read that right. The mother, who hails from North Carolina, forked over $8,000 to transport her daughter across the border, all thanks to some dubious online ads for smuggling services.
