While the Biden administration touted over 2,500 drug commutations presumably for “non-violent offenders,” Peeler – who executed a mother and her 8-year-old son – managed to waltz through the pardon process unscathed. The fallout has left many Democrats looking like deer caught in headlights.
One notable Democrat, Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, expressed bewilderment at the Peeler pardon, triggering a ripple of confusion within the party. Where, one may wonder, were the howls of outrage from other high-profile Democrats? Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona seems particularly selective about which pardons incite his anger. Despite sharing a family background steeped in law enforcement, Kelly found time to whine about President Trump’s pardons for January 6 defendants while completely ignoring Peeler’s heinous case.
Kelly’s tirade on social media included a self-righteous declaration that pardoning these so-called insurrectionists was a “sad day for our country.” Funny how a man raised in a police family could overlook a real-life murderer receiving a slap on the wrist while hyperventilating about political grievances. The January 6 defendants, often portrayed as victims of their own misguided choices, have faced various legal consequences, including incarceration in deplorable conditions. Yet, in Kelly’s narrative, it is as if these individuals operated above the law, conveniently bypassing the reality of their actions.
What makes this political circus even more perplexing is the Democratic party’s ongoing disarray regarding Biden’s pardons. Just before Trump’s second inauguration, Biden shockingly handed out preemptive pardons to his family members along with high-profile figures such as General Mark Milley and Dr. Anthony Fauci. The internal conflict among Democrats, voiced by the likes of Senators Tim Kaine and Jared Moskowitz, highlights the disorientation within the party, particularly as they feign anger over Trump’s actions while navigating the mess left by Biden.

Even after being booted from the Oval Office, Biden’s team continues its narrative by criticizing Trump and the pardons he granted. Former Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates jumped into the fray, sharing articles detailing Trump’s pardons while conveniently ignoring Biden’s disgraceful favors like Peeler’s. The silence on Biden’s record, especially in relation to a child pornography convict also pardoned, raises eyebrows and speaks volumes about the hypocrisy pervasive within progressive circles.
As the dust settles on Biden’s presidency, it remains clear that his list of pardons has ignited a firestorm rather than fostering any sense of party unity. Instead of focusing on moving forward, these Democrats appear more preoccupied with pointing fingers at Trump while their own backyard is set ablaze. The ongoing spectacle only emphasizes the need for a wary eye on the true character of those the left chooses to defend and pardon.
