Biden’s Hollow Unity Bid Sparks GOP Yawns Ahead of SOTU

President Biden’s upcoming State of the Union address has conservatives across the nation rolling their eyes and shaking their heads, as he tries to make a pitch for the general election while former President Donald Trump waits in the wings as the presumptive Republican nominee. The President and his “Unity Agenda” are set to hit the airwaves in an attempt to win over Republican lawmakers and independent voters. However, it seems like Uncle Joe also has some convincing to do within his own party. Some Democrats are expressing concerns about his age, while others are not pleased with his handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

But instead of addressing these concerns head-on, Biden is planning to embrace his age, even going so far as to remind everyone that he’s “only” four years older than Trump. The White House is gearing up for Biden to hammer home the message that while they may be close in age, they couldn’t be more different when it comes to their stances on abortion and their views on democracy. Get ready for Uncle Joe to wax poetic about freedom and democracy, honesty and decency, and throwing shade at those who may see the world a little differently than he does.

The President’s speech is lining up to be a real snoozefest, potentially clocking in at a mind-numbing 90 minutes. And while Biden and his team may have been looking forward to a rematch with Trump, he’s currently trailing in the polls. The economy is also going to be a hot topic, with Biden planning to talk up his economic policies, conveniently leaving out how the public is feeling the squeeze of inflation. But never fear, because Biden has some more of his populist economic policies up his sleeve, like upping the corporate tax, bumping up the minimum income tax for billionaires, and expanding Medicare taxes for the wealthy.

The guest list for Biden’s speech is raising eyebrows too. He’s inviting the Swedish Prime Minister and a Navy Commander awarded the Bronze Star, which seems to suggest he’s going to push for more funding for Ukraine, but some of his more liberal Democratic friends may not be impressed. Pro-Palestinian protesters have already been causing a ruckus in DC, and Biden’s decision to only have one military-connected guest at his speech may not sit well with them. Meanwhile, former New York Republican Rep. George Santos will also be in attendance, leaving a little birdie to whisper in the ear of Representative Tom Suozzi that he should have “no comment” on the matter.

As if all of this pomp and circumstance wasn’t enough, Biden is planning to take his show on the road after the speech, making stops in Pennsylvania and Georgia to spread his message. It seems like Uncle Joe doesn’t know when to quit, but one thing is for sure: the Republican Party won’t be rolling out the red carpet for him anytime soon!
