Joe Biden’s recent announcement to abandon his presidential reelection bid has sent shockwaves through the left-wing media, triggering a flurry of emotional responses that could rival an Oscar-winning drama. Clarifying the impact of this political bombshell, it’s clear that not everyone in the Democrat camp has the same emotional fortitude. In typical fashion, CNN’s Van Jones epitomized this reaction, shedding tears live on air. This display was reminiscent of a family gathering where someone has to take the car keys from grandpa. The scene depicted faded masculinity and theatrics rolled into one, leaving viewers both amused and bewildered.
Not to be outdone, former White House press secretary and current MSNBC fixture Jen Psaki also engaged in serious mental gymnastics as she attempted to process the news. Her bewilderment, while seasoned with an attempt at articulating support for Biden, did little to mask the frantic psychological evaluation happening just below the surface. Reports had been swirling among insiders about dissent in the Biden camp, with whispers suggesting that a significant number of staffers wanted the old man to either leave gracefully or face the boot. Still, Psaki held on to the notion that there were “very few indications” this decision was on the horizon. This takes a certain level of denial that only a partisan warrior could sustain.
Then came Rachel Maddow, who, as usual, saw this development as a cornerstone of historical importance, pushing the narrative that Biden’s resignation represented a monumental act of selflessness and patriotism. Maddow’s insistence that this decision would be remembered through the ages stretched credulity to its breaking point. This is the same figure who could spin anything into an epic saga, and this occasion proved no different. According to her, Biden was a beacon of decency and civility, even while her past comments labeled his political opponent Trump as a sort of caricature of evil, much likened to Hitler.
Maddow’s enthusiasm reached dizzying heights as she posited that nothing in Biden’s long political career surpassed this decision. This view seemed to strain against a mountain of evidence to the contrary. After all, Biden’s presidency has been marked by the sputtering economy and a foreign policy that has left detractors shaking their heads. Yet in the Maddow universe, Biden was a hero leading the charge towards a marvelously bright future—if only the public would listen to her script.

As Maddow waxed poetic about Biden’s supposed sacrifices, one had to wonder if she was living in an entirely different reality. The absurdity peaked when she bravely posited that this decision wasn’t something Biden typically did, suggesting that he was naturally predisposed to being underestimated. This notion raises eyebrows, especially considering the heavy influence of his formidable wife, Jill, who allegedly orchestrates much of Biden’s political maneuvering. It begs the question: how much of this decision was truly Biden’s, and how much was a concession by someone else behind the scenes?
The rollercoaster of emotions from the leftist media surrounding Biden’s decision showcases the wild disconnect from reality that characterizes much of the contemporary liberal narrative. The tears, the praise, and the desperate attempts to frame a tired political figure as a martyr reveal a party grasping for straws in the face of a stark political truth: it might just be time for a change.
