It seems like a day doesn’t go by without the Democrats concocting yet another wild conspiracy theory. They spend more time weaving imaginary threats than a spider spends spinning a web. The latest tall tale? They’re simultaneously terrified of the National Guard and convinced it’s all part of a nefarious plot by Republicans, as if the Guard’s mission is anything other than keeping peace and ensuring safety. The irony here is almost too rich to handle.
Here’s the situation: some Democrats have convinced themselves that the National Guard might be used not just to maintain order but to steal elections or carry out airstrikes on domestic groups they disagree with. It’s hard to say whether they’re more frightened of the truth or the long shadows their own imaginations cast. Apparently, the idea of law and order working effectively is enough to send them into a frenzy of conspiracy-mongering. If only reality were as dramatic as their fantasies!
Meanwhile, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and conservative voices are calling out this nonsense. It’s a bit like trying to have a reasonable conversation with someone who’s seen one too many sci-fi movies and can’t quite tell which dimension they’re in. During Biden’s administration, governors like DeSantis stepped up to enforce existing immigration laws, filled voids left by federal inaction, and now it’s a different tune with them pointing fingers at Trump as if he’s doing anything but his duty.
There’s also this glaringly unaddressed issue of law enforcement—or the lack thereof. Laws against serious crimes are often stymied by local governments in cities like Chicago. Recent moves to eliminate cash bail have only exacerbated the problem, releasing offenders with a slap on the wrist. It’s like a revolving door of crime, and the more they let slip through, the more residents pack up and head for safer pastures like Florida, where public safety isn’t treated as an afterthought.
One can’t help but wonder: why do Democrats find it so difficult to give credit where it’s due? Trump managed to make significant strides in seeking peace both on American streets and in the Middle East, despite their knee-jerk opposition. Yet, instead of embracing success, they’d rather nitpick and criticize while ordinary Americans just want safe streets and peaceful homes. It’s high time they stepped out of their echo chamber and faced the reality of what actually works. Unfortunately, it seems as unlikely as pigs flying or, in this case, Democrats giving credit where it’s due.
