BLM Promises Chaos After Daniel Penny Acquittal in NYC Subway Self-Defense Case

Daniel Penny’s recent acquittal on the charge of criminally negligent homicide has sparked wild reactions from certain groups, proving once again that when law and order stand against chaos, some prefer the chaos. Penny, who acted in self-defense against Jordan Neely, a man with a lengthy criminal record threatening subway riders in New York City, must be breathing a sigh of relief. But while reasonable citizens exhale, the self-appointed guardians of grievance—Black Lives Matter—are cranking up their ‘Let’s Take to the Streets’ playlist for round two.

In a show of alarmingly creative rhetoric, the founder of BLM New York, Hawke Newsome, called for the streets to overflow with a surprising new strategy. Rather than advocating for calm and restraint, he seems to have decided that a little vigilantism could spice things up. Apparently, he believes that if his group can be loud and disruptive without consequence, then others should be on board with flipping the script and ‘choking back’ in return. One can only marvel at the irony of calling out violence while simultaneously proposing more of it. What would the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. think?

As if one stirring speech wasn’t enough to evoke the old “two wrongs make a right” adage, the BLM provocateurs promised that the city would “hear them tonight.” Whether that meant loud protests or good old-fashioned rioting remained uncertain, but one thing was clear—when it comes to civil discourse, they were about as far away from it as a liberal at a gun range. The streets of New York were expected to be their canvas for expressing ‘concerns’—a little paint from Molotov cocktails, perhaps?

Newsome’s penchant for incendiary comments isn’t new. He gained attention in 2020 when he promised to “burn the country down” if his demands weren’t met. A passion for destruction is clearly a family trait, or at least a core belief. It raises questions about the mental gymnastics required to protest perceived injustices while simultaneously stoking the flames of chaos. Is this the kind of leadership the country needs, or merely another episode in a long-running tragicomedy of victimhood?

As Penny walks away scot-free, the response from groups like BLM shows that their message of accountability has a glaring double standard. If they really wanted to foster real change, they might consider approaching conflict resolution in a more peaceful manner. But who needs dialogue when one can ignite passions and create chaos instead? After all, who wouldn’t want to watch a sequel to the original “BLM Rumble,” featuring thrill-seeking activists ready to lay down some questionable justice? It’s enough to make anyone appreciate the peace of law-abiding folks just trying to live their lives without getting entangled in this circus.
