Former National Security Adviser John Bolton had some strong words for the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to disqualify former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot. In an appearance on CNN’s “The Source,” Bolton didn’t hold back, calling the decision “incoherent” and predicting that it would be overturned by the higher authorities.

Bolton didn’t mince his words, labeling the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling as “badly wrong for multiple reasons.” He pointed to the 14th Amendment and argued that the decision was misplaced, as Congress has not passed any legislation regarding Section Three since just after the Civil War. He also criticized the idea that 50 different state courts could interpret the federal Constitution on a matter involving the highest elective office, calling it “incoherent.”
The former National Security Adviser didn’t shy away from sharing his opinion on the framers of the 14th Amendment, suggesting that the intention of the radical Republicans in Congress was clear and that the Supreme Court, if it needs to intervene, will likely reverse the decision. Bolton expressed concern that allowing such an erroneous decision to stand would lead to chaos in future elections.
Furthermore, Bolton echoed his criticism of Trump, asserting that the decision of whether or not Trump could return to office should ultimately be left to the voters. However, he emphasized the need for the Supreme Court to address the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling, not wanting the decision to set a precedent for future cases.
Bolton’s words on the matter left no room for doubt about his stance. He vehemently opposed the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision and made it clear that he believed the higher authorities would ultimately overturn it. With Bolton’s strong words and conviction, it’s clear that this issue is far from settled in the eyes of conservatives.
