Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent just delivered some fantastic news for America. Our tough negotiations with China are working, and the communist regime is feeling the heat. President Trump’s America First trade strategy has put China on their back foot like never before.
The recent talks in Stockholm show just how desperate China has become. Chinese negotiators are practically begging for more time to avoid massive tariffs that would crush their economy. They know Trump means business this time around.
Without a deal, China faces tariffs jumping back up to a whopping 80 percent on their goods. That includes the tariffs from Trump’s first term plus new penalties for their fentanyl shipments that are killing Americans. China simply cannot afford to lose access to our massive market.
Meanwhile, the rest of the world is lining up behind America again. Countries that used to kowtow to Beijing are now seeing which way the wind blows. Trump has restored American strength and made us the leader other nations want to follow.
China’s weakness showed during the talks when they whined about being a sovereign nation regarding their oil purchases from Iran. But Bessent made it clear we have already sanctioned their refineries and owners. We are not backing down on any front.
The Chinese are also flooding global markets with cheap goods to undercut American workers. Bessent called them out on this unfair practice that has been going on for decades. No more free rides for China’s cheating ways.
President Trump will decide this Wednesday whether to give China another 90 days to make a real deal. The ball is completely in America’s court now, exactly where it should be. China knows they need us far more than we need them.
This is what winning looks like when America has strong leadership again. Trump has flipped the tables on China and shown the world that America will not be pushed around anymore.
