Christie Crashes Out: Trump’s GOP Grip Too Tight for Rivals

Former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is officially out of the 2024 presidential race, and he didn’t even get a chance to take off. The truth is, the 2024 Republican primaries never even had a chance to get started. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis couldn’t even make a dent in Donald Trump’s stronghold on the GOP base, so he didn’t stand a chance.

As for Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy, please. They were never going to win, and everyone knew it. Trump already had the primaries in the bag after the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago in August of 2022. Game over. Christie knew it, and he left the stage throwing shade at fellow Republicans. In New Hampshire, the New Jersey Republican admitted defeat but took the low road by predicting Haley’s demise. His farewell speech was filled with the same tired anti-Trump rhetoric and self-righteous blabber.

Christie’s sudden departure, just days before the Iowa caucuses and a couple of weeks before the New Hampshire primary, will undoubtedly give Haley a boost in the Granite State, where she’s gained ground in the polls. Christie had posed a threat to dividing the anti-Trump vote, so his exit opens the door for Haley.

Speaking of division, Christie didn’t endorse anyone as he bowed out, and apparently, Haley hasn’t been reaching out to him. But she did release a statement calling him a “friend for many years” and vowing to “fight to earn every vote.” Sounds like typical empty political talk to me.

Desperate New Hampshire Republicans, eager to derail Trump’s nomination, pushed hard to boot Christie from the race. And on Wednesday, at a wedding chapel in Windham, New Hampshire, Christie conceded that there was no path to victory for him. Rather than lying to win, he claimed he’d lose by telling the truth. Spare us the dramatics, Christie.

It seems Christie’s campaign was just a chance for him to try and make up for supporting Trump in the past. But calling out fellow Republicans who endorsed the former president just makes him look like a sore loser. It’s nothing new for elected officials to stand behind their party leader. Get over it, Christie.

And now, what’s next for the GOP? It’s time to unite and focus on winning in 2024, no matter what. Trump is the only candidate who can kick Biden out of office, and that’s all that matters. Sure, a lively primary would’ve been entertaining, but that ship has sailed. The anti-Trump Republicans need to stop living in the past and get on board. Trump is the guy, and that’s that.

As for the media, their reaction has been as expected – a bunch of liberal reporters crying over Christie’s departure and applauding his anti-Trump crusade. MSNBC is mourning Christie’s exit from the race, praising him for denouncing Trump while bashing potential candidates DeSantis and Haley. When MSNBC is lamenting the end of your campaign, you know you’re doing something wrong.

Farewell, Mr. Christie. Maybe next time, focus on selling freedom and liberty instead of attacking your fellow Republicans.
