Stephen Colbert’s liberal late-night show is finally getting the axe. The comedian announced that “The Late Show” will end next year after CBS caved to pressure. This comes just days after President Trump’s successful lawsuit against the network.
Trump sued CBS for editing his interview with Kamala Harris to make her look better. The network paid Trump $16 million to settle the case. Colbert joked about the settlement on his show, but clearly CBS wasn’t laughing.
The timing couldn’t be worse for Colbert. CBS announced the show’s cancellation right after writing that big check to Trump. Colbert told his audience the show would end in May 2026 with no replacement coming.
Colbert looked defeated announcing his own cancellation. He admitted this was the network’s decision, not his choice. The live audience booed loudly when they heard the show was being scrapped.
Democrats are furious about the cancellation. They accuse CBS of making a deal with Trump to get his approval for their big merger. They say this is pure payback for Trump’s lawsuit win against the network.
This is a major victory for conservative media accountability. Trump stood up to the biased network bosses and won. Colbert’s constant Trump-bashing finally caught up with him and wrecked his career.
The show’s cancellation proves conservatives were right about liberal media bias all along. CBS chose business over their own star host because Trump pushed back hard. Colbert’s brand of smug liberalism just doesn’t sell anymore.
