Colbert’s Last-Ditch Effort with Kamala Harris Falls Flat

Hollywood hypocrisy rears its ugly head once more as Stephen Colbert, the soon-to-be former host of “The Late Show,” clings to relevance by booking none other than Kamala Harris. Their desperate attempt to inject life into a stale show should surprise no one. Colbert’s program thrived under the wit of David Letterman, but now it’s a sinking ship trying to stay afloat by tossing a lifeline to Harris, whose own political career mirrors the disastrous trajectory of the show’s ratings.

Let’s be real—no one wants to listen to Harris stumble through another interview. Her knack for slurring words and laughing off questions is nothing short of cringe-worthy. Even the liberals must be scratching their heads at how she continues to be propped up by their own party. Back when she was a presidential nominee, she was criticized for her lack of substance and coherence. Nothing has changed. If anything, her shortcomings have become more glaringly obvious.

Colbert’s move to bring Harris onto the show is not only a blatant jab at former President Donald Trump but also a misguided attempt to appear edgy and rebellious. Spoiler alert: nobody’s buying it. As the show hemorrhages cash to the tune of $40 million a year, it’s clear the American public has tuned out. Even a “We’re with Colbert” rally attracted a pathetic number of attendees—20, to be exact, barely enough to fill a school bus, let alone demonstrate any real support.

What’s even more laughable is that Harris plans to peddle her latest book during the appearance. It’s titled “107 Days,” but here’s what it really should be called: “How to Lose $1.5 Billion—and the White House—in 107 Days.” The fact that she’s hustling a book when her political career is in freefall perfectly captures the liberal elite’s disconnect from the reality facing average Americans.

As the show nears its end, both Colbert and Harris are left grappling with their own irrelevance. So, who’s really watching this exercise in mediocrity? Perhaps it’s better to skip this predictable train wreck altogether. But isn’t it all so fitting? Kamala, the political lightweight, teams up with Colbert, the late-night host whose best days are behind him. A perfect match in the sad, waning days of liberal media.
