Former FBI Director James Comey is facing a federal criminal investigation after posting a suspicious message many believe threatened President Trump. The Secret Service and FBI are probing whether Comey’s Instagram photo of seashells arranged as “86 47” was a coded call to assassinate Trump, the 47th president. Conservative leaders demand justice, calling it a dangerous act of political violence.
Comey claimed the post was harmless, saying he didn’t realize the numbers could be interpreted violently. But patriots aren’t buying it. The phrase “86” is slang for killing someone, and Trump supporters quickly connected the dots. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the investigation, stating federal law enforcement takes threats against the president seriously.
Republicans erupted over the post, with Donald Trump Jr. accusing Comey of wanting his father dead. Former Trump official Kash Patel called it an “attack on democracy” and vowed consequences. Comey’s history of targeting conservatives, including his biased handling of the Hillary Clinton email scandal, has left many questioning his motives.
