The ongoing strikes by Congress have once again highlighted the destructive effects of tax increases and liberal waste on American workers.
In addition to Congress, the local government is also contributing to the financial mess that Americans are experiencing. During a recent meeting in Johnson county, Kansas, local officials refused to cut a single cent from their budget despite being told to do so.
In response to the ongoing protests, Thad asked for the return of the plexiglass that was used to protect people during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, this useless product failed to prevent the government from spending millions of dollars on useless masks and lockdowns that destroyed local businesses.
In addition, the local government is contributing to the financial mess by spending millions of dollars on liberal pet projects. Thad uncovered the county's decision to give a tax break to a multinational company that wanted to build batteries. The taxpayers of Johnson County received only $93.5 million in return. It's like they gave someone a gold nugget and then got a nickel back in return.
In Johnson County, over 200 government workers are reportedly making over $100,000 annually. While families are struggling to meet their basic needs, these officials are still living large on the public's dime. During a heated exchange with the officials, Thad demanded to know how much money the government has to spend on climate change.
Let's take a look at the political landscape in Johnson county, Kansas. It was one of five counties that voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. Despite being a liberal stronghold, this area is not on the same page as other counties in the state. It's no wonder that the local government is more interested in spending more money on wasteful projects than looking after the taxpayers.
