Congress just can’t help itself. Once again, our so-called “representatives” in Washington are working overtime to kneecap the America First movement. This time, it’s through a sneaky little scheme that’s been lurking in the shadows: the “de minimis” loophole. It’s the sort of cozy, deep-swamp trick that lets foreign companies flood our markets with dirt-cheap goods, all at the expense of American workers and businesses.
Donald Trump saw this scam for what it was. The first chance he got, he slammed the door shut on it. Trump understood what the establishment never will: when you let Communist China and globalist cronies take advantage of America’s generosity, it’s the American people who end up paying the price. Under Trump’s watch, everyone played by the same rules. No special carveouts, no sweetheart loopholes for China or anyone else.

But what does Congress do? They just can’t stop themselves from pandering to foreign interests. Instead of backing a trade agenda that puts Americans first, they’re desperately trying to bring back the de minimis loophole. Who benefits? Chinese manufacturers and foreign internet giants love skirting fair taxes and safety standards. Who loses? Every day, Americans are trying to compete, feed their families, and support their communities.
Let’s be real: this isn’t about fairness or free markets. This is about lobbyists lining their pockets and clueless politicians bowing to globalist pressure. Liberals pretend to care about American jobs, but the minute they get a chance, they side with Beijing over Main Street. The hypocrisy is as thick as the D.C. swamp itself.
When Trump returns to power, you can bet this loophole gets buried for good. The question is—why are so many in Congress fighting harder for China’s interests than for those of the people who elected them? Maybe it’s time to drain the swamp again, and for good.
