On September 10, 2025, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was gunned down while speaking at Utah Valley University, a brutal attack that stunned the nation and raised the stakes of our cultural battle overnight. He was murdered in front of thousands of young Americans who came to hear him speak about faith, family, and freedom—a reminder that the threats to our movement are no longer abstract.
Within days prosecutors charged 22-year-old Tyler Robinson with aggravated murder and announced they would seek the harshest penalty the state allows, a just response to a premeditated killing that targeted a public figure exercising his right to speak. Conservatives who have long warned that dehumanizing rhetoric begets real-world violence watched as the machinery of justice moved to hold the alleged killer accountable.
Mourners filled State Farm Stadium to capacity to honor Kirk’s life, with religious music, scripture, and leading conservatives — including President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance — standing with his family as the right turned grief into resolve. What happened in Arizona was as much a spiritual revival as a political rally; millions of patriotic Americans now see Kirk as a martyr for the values he preached.
The reaction from parts of the left has been sickening and revealing: a Jezebel writer candidly admitted to buying curses on Etsy to hex Kirk just days before the murder, an episode that exposed the contempt some in elite media hold for opponents and for basic decency. That contempt metastasized online, where teachers and public servants who celebrated the killing were quickly identified and, in many cases, suspended or fired for praising violence against a father of two — a necessary rebuke when public employees cross the line from speech to celebration of murder.
As investigators worked, Utah’s governor said the accused shooter lived with a romantic partner who is transitioning and that the partner has been cooperating with authorities, a factual detail that investigators are rightly following as they piece together motive and digital footprints. This is a criminal investigation, not a political cudgel, and every lead must be pursued so justice is absolute and transparent.
Patriots should be clear-eyed: this killing did not occur in a vacuum. We face an institutional culture that too often treats conservative conviction as provocation and brands opponents as less than human. If the left’s loudest voices can cheer when a man is gunned down, they have shown themselves unfit to lead civic institutions that form our children and steward public trust.
Now is the time for conservatives to stand firm, not to retaliate, but to rebuild. Honor Charlie Kirk by defending free speech on campus, insisting on accountability for those who incite or celebrate violence, and by doubling down on the faith and family values he championed — because a nation that lets political murder go unpunished is a nation that has lost its soul.
