People are fatigued from hearing calls for more community centers when it’s unclear whether they would be respected or just become new targets for vandalism. The sentiment comes from a straightforward reality: why build more playgrounds if the kids are just going to light the jungle gym on fire?
It’s becoming evident that the absence of parental guidance is a significant part of the problem.
