In a recent encounter, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a member of the notorious “Squad” of liberal congresswomen, was confronted by a brave female reporter. The reporter had a simple question for Omar: why does she believe that Israel should bear the burden of de-escalation in its conflict with Hamas? This question comes at a time when Hamas has launched a devastating attack on Israel, resulting in the deaths of over 1,400 citizens, with hundreds more held hostage.

But instead of engaging in a thoughtful discussion, Omar chose to ignore the reporter and walked away. As she entered an elevator, she dismissed the reporter as a “crazy lady” to her entourage. This kind of dismissive and disrespectful attitude towards a journalist is indicative of Omar’s disregard for accountability and transparency.
Omar is not alone in her stance. Her fellow Squad member, Representative Rashida Tlaib, also responded to a similar question from the same reporter with nothing more than a glare. This behavior is unacceptable from elected officials who are supposed to represent the interests of their constituents and engage in civil discourse.
The Squad, an informal group of ultra-liberal members of Congress, has consistently advocated for the safety of Palestinians and called on President Biden and Israel to halt their military operations. It is concerning that the views of these far-left members are in line with a majority of Democratic voters, who now seem to have more sympathy for Palestinians than for Israelis.
It is important to remember that Israel is facing a complex situation, with terrorists hiding among civilians and launching indiscriminate attacks. President Biden has expressed his full support for Israel and its right to defend itself, while also urging caution and a consideration of the mistakes made in the aftermath of 9/11.
The unwillingness of the Squad to engage in meaningful dialogue and address legitimate concerns raises questions about their ability to effectively represent their constituents and contribute to productive policy discussions. It is crucial that elected officials prioritize the well-being and security of their own country and allies, rather than engaging in divisive rhetoric and one-sided support for the Palestinian cause.
