In a shocking twist, yet another Democrat has shown us the “do as I say, not as I do” mantra in action—this time with a dash of good, old-fashioned kleptomania. Raghib Allie-Brennan, a state representative from Connecticut, was caught on camera at Target, evidently forgetting that liberal policies on redistribution don’t apply to unpaid items at your friendly neighborhood retail chain. For someone who’s been elected four times, you’d think he’d be familiar with the basics of using a checkout scanner.
What truly takes the cake is his explanation. Juggling an armload of items and forgetting to scan them because he was rushed for a hospital visit? Please. It’s a familiar excuse trotted out by Democrats when convenience veers toward criminality. Aren’t these the same folks who endlessly lecture us about the need for more regulation and scrutiny in every aspect of our lives? Seems like they should start by regulating their own behavior.

And what about Target’s claim that this isn’t his first brush with shoplifting? Here’s a Democrat who prides himself on transparency and integrity. Yet, he’s allegedly had previous incidents that conveniently went unreported until now. It’s almost as if he believed he’s entitled to his own rules. Democrats, especially those in power, should remember that being an “advocate” doesn’t grant immunity from the law.
It’s no surprise that just recently, several other Democrats have been brought to their knees by charges of theft and fraud. Is this a systemic issue within the party, or have conservatives just become better at catching them in the act? Either way, it’s become abundantly clear that the stain of deceit and corruption is hard to hide when the scales of justice aren’t tipped in your favor.
This latest escapade begs the question: where does the liberal hypocrisy end? If even our lawmakers can’t keep their hands to themselves within the fluorescent aisles of Target, how can we trust them with the taxpayer dollars they so eagerly spend? It’s not only about petty theft—it’s about stealing our trust. As conservatives, it’s time we hold them accountable. If only ethics were as easy to enforce as self-checkout tills.
