Federal agents swooped in on the New Mexico home of a Democratic former judge and his wife this week. Juan Cano and Nancy Cano now face charges for sheltering an illegal immigrant tied to a brutal Venezuelan gang. The arrest follows a March raid where authorities found guns and gang links right under the judge’s nose.
This wasn’t some random criminal. The illegal immigrant in their home, Cristhian Ortega-Lopez, belongs to Tren de Aragua—a gang known for human trafficking and murder. Social media posts showed him flashing military-style rifles. Even worse, photos caught Judge Cano grinning alongside him, accepting a weapon. How’s that for “sanctuary” policies?
The judge’s stepdaughter, April Cano, owned the property where four firearms were seized. Ortega-Lopez admitted firing those guns. Under federal law, he faces 15 years as an illegal alien with weapons. But why wasn’t this stopped sooner? The Canos gave him work as a handyman, then let him move in.
Juan Cano resigned abruptly after the raid, his March 3 letter quitting the bench. The New Mexico Supreme Court banned him from ever holding judicial office again. A lifelong Democrat and ex-cop, Cano’s fall exposes the rot in soft-on-crime leadership.
Tren de Aragua isn’t just another gang. They’ve turned parts of South America into war zones. Now they’re here, thanks to open borders and Democrats who protect illegals over citizens. This judge chose sheltering a gangster over upholding the law.
While conservatives push to secure the border, liberals enable chaos. The Cano case proves elites think rules don’t apply to them. They’ll house violent criminals, then act shocked when communities suffer. Meanwhile, hardworking Americans pay the price.
Authorities finally did their job here, but it shouldn’t take a federal raid to stop a judge’s corruption. The system is broken when those sworn to protect us instead harbor threats. This is what happens when Democrats prioritize politics over safety.
Enough is enough. Patriots demand justice, secure borders, and leaders who put Americans first. The Canos’ arrest is a wake-up call. November can’t come soon enough to boot the radicals enabling this madness.
